Counselor In Training
About The C.I.T Program
Our Counselor In Training (CIT) Program is designed for motivated 14 and 15 year old’s interested in becoming future counselors for our Tennis and Multi-Sport Summer Camps. This 2 week half day program bridges the gap between camper and counselor by introducing participants to leadership, responsibility, and real-world camp operations.
CITs will explore the importance of the counselor role and how it serves as the critical connection between campers and staff. The program will outline counselor expectations and summer-long goals, then translate those ideas into personalized CIT goals that each participant will work toward over the 2 week session.
Building Skills Beyond Camp
CITs will take part in a structured interview process, formal camp training, and a final exit interview, mirroring the expectations of a true counselor role. Throughout the program, participants will gain hands-on experience working alongside staff in both our Tennis and Multi-Sport Camps.
Training and experience will include ropes course instruction (high ropes, low ropes, and zip-line), archery training, pool safety awareness, and fire safety procedures. CITs will also develop communication skills, teamwork, camper management strategies, and age-appropriate coaching techniques in a supportive and engaging environment.
Each participant will receive an official CIT Camp shirt to wear throughout the program.
Completion of the 2 week CIT Program is an essential first step for those interested in applying for counselor positions in future summers.
